Boilers / Heating

Boilers / Heating

Having the right boiler and one that is maintained regularly will increase the efficiency of heating your home..

Boilers and Heating

Are boilers all the same?

There are three common types of boilers regardless of what fuel your boiler runs on that most households have. These are combi boilers, heat only (conventional) boilers and system (closed vent) boilers. Each of these boilers come with their own pros and cons, however new more energy efficient and 'greener' boiler systems are coming onto the market. We can recommend the best type of boiler for your needs and install, maintain and repair your boiler for you.

Common Questions

How long will my boiler last?

An average ‘lifetime’ of a boiler is referred to as 15 years.

How often should I have my boiler serviced?

Like your car service it’s always best to have this done once a year, that way any potential problems can be caught early and dealt with before they get worse and more expensive to rectify.

How do I know if my boiler needs replacing?

Generally, boilers are smart, and if there is a major issue a status light or fault code will be displayed on the boiler. If you have noticed a change in behaviour of your boiler it may be a sign that a fault is starting to develop and this is usually the best time to have it tested, we may be able to repair it before it even breaks down!

How difficult is it to have my boiler changed? How long does it take?

This should be a simple process with most installations only taking a day.

Should I have a carbon monoxide alarm?

Its always better to have one than not, just like a fire alarm you hope to never need it but if you do your glad to have it.

How do I choose which boiler brand to go for?

This is more of a budget based question, we will offer 2 different options, a top of the range budget boiler and a mid-tier budget boiler and leave you to choose which one suits you best.

What are the benefits of a combination boiler (combi)

Better water pressure compared to a conventional system.

Less water wastage, only heat the water you need on a demand basis.

Space saving, no loft tanks or bulky cylinders.

Slightly better efficiency for central heating.

Better suited to properties with a lower water demand i.e. one shower at a time.
